Real? Sort of. A soft makeout video circulated, but the rumored hardcore video never existed.
On New Years Eve 2007->2008, Prodigy and his wife spent the night celebrating in their hotel room. Two big events awaited Prodigy in early 2008: he was headed to prison in January on weapons charges, and his new solo CD H.N.I.C. Pt. 2 would be released in April.
In the hotel room, the couple shot a playful video which included some making out on the bed. They then posted the video online, where it was reposted at several hiphop sites.
Several sites speculated — or just flat out claimed — that the soft video was a teaser clip for a fullblown hardcore Prodigy sex tape to follow.
Prodigy may have encourged this speculation for publicity value. In any case, it wasn’t true. The softcore clip posted New Years Eve was the sum total of the Prodigy sex tape.
In an interview a week later, Prodigy dismissed sex tape talk: “We were just having fun. Me and my wife went to go hang out on new years and we were just using the phone, fucking around, having fun. We decided to tease the world with a little something. It was in good taste, we ain’t into doing no porno or nothing like that. We don’t need to put shit like a porno or a sex tape to make a name for ourselves. We already got a name for ourselves.”
