Real? The tape exists and circulates; R. Kelly might be the man on the tape, but he denies it.
The R. Kelly sex tape appeared in February 2002. Copies circulated widely on VHS and DVD and on internet filesharing networks. The 25-minute tape supposedly showed the singer having sex with a fourteen-year-old girl, notoriously concluding with Kelly pissing on the girl’s naked body.
Some sources identified the fourteen-year-old girl as the daughter of a business associate and niece of the singer Sparkle. However, that girl and her family denied that it was her on the tape. For the record, R. Kelly also denied that he was the man on the tape.
R. Kelly was arrested and charged with making child pornography in June 2002. For various reasons, the case did not go to trial until May 2008. On June 13, 2008, a jury found him not guilty on all fourteen counts.
Plenty of copies of the R. Kelly sex tape are still out there in the sleazosphere. I have avoided tracking down the tape because it’s illegal, and I advise you to do the same. Make do with the Dave Chappelle version.
