Nicki Minaj has been a rising star in rap since 2007, releasing several mixtapes and collaborating on several album tracks. In 2009-10 she released her first single, “Massive Attack”, and had “featuring” credits on tracks with Lil Wayne, Usher, Ludacris and others. Her first solo album is due out in summer 2010.

In late May 2010, rumors of a Nicki Minaj sex tape started circulating around hiphop news and gossip sites. On May 20, 2010, MediaTakeout.com reported:

MediaTakeOut.com just got a PRIVATE SCREENING of a new EXPLICIT VIDEO – starring what appears to be a young NICKI MINAJ.

The tape, which shows VERY EXPLICIT AND GRAPHIC scenes, was supposedly made a few years ago, before Nicki got hot. And in it it shows Nicki Minaj (or someone that looks a LOT LIKE HER) doing all kinds of freaky stuff.

The people who had the tape are looking to sell the contents for $100,000. Obviously we ain’t that kinda BREAD . . . but according to them, they’ve already got one person lined up to pay the price.

A million other blogs picked up the story and started speculating. Is it really Nicki Minaj in the sex tape or just a lookalike? Is her partner a man or another woman? (There had already been rumors about Nicki Minaj being lesbian or bisexual.)

So far, the story has not progressed beyond the initial MediaTakeout.com item. Maybe there’s a Nicki Minaj sex tape out there, maybe not.
