Ariel + Luna Maya + Cut Tari Sex Tape

Who? Indonesian celebrities.

Real? Yes.

Nazriel Irham is the lead singer of the band Peterpan. He goes by the stage name Ariel (or sometimes Ariel Peterpan). Luna Maya and Cut Tari are both actresses and TV hosts. All three are well-known pop culture figures in Indonesia with multiple endorsement deals.

In early June 2010, two sex tapes started circulating in Indonesia via internet and cellphone, showing Ariel and Luna Maya (romantically involved at the time) having sex in hotel rooms. One tape runs 6½ minutes, the other runs 2½ minutes. Both look like they were shot on cellphones, very grainy and blurry and pixelated. Ariel and Luna Maya denied being the people in the sex tapes, but everyone in Indonesia seems pretty sure it’s really them.

A few days later, another Ariel sex tape appeared, this time showing him having sex with ex-girlfriend Cut Tari. This video runs 8¾ minutes. The visual quality is much crisper and clearer than in the Ariel + Luna Maya tapes. For the first 6 minutes or so, the camera remains stationary on a bedside table, the image framed portrait-style. For the final 2½ minutes, Ariel picks up the camera and tries out a bunch of handheld angles, including a behind-the-back testicle-cam view.

All three celebrities have been questioned by Indonesian police for possible violation of the country’s Anti-Pornography Law. The New York Times notes, “The law was passed [in 2008] at the urging of Islamic parties, against the resistance of some secularists and religious minorities. It includes heavy penalties for those who download or produce pornography — which critics say is defined so broadly that it could effectively criminalize many of Indonesia’s diverse non-Islamic cultures.”

The scandal could keep going for a while. The Jakarta Post reported on June 10, “Rumor has it the videos featuring Tari and Luna are only the tip of the iceberg, with a total of 32 sex tapes soon to be leaked to the public. The videos are said to show a man resembling to Ariel having sex with different women, of whom seven are celebrities. Ariel was reportedly blackmailed after losing his laptop.”
