Elle Hartley is a barely famous British party girl who aspires to become more famous. In July 2010, when Hartley was in Los Angeles partying with English soccer star Ashley Cole, the British tabloids reported the existence of an Elle Hartley sex tape dating back five years. From the Daily Star:
Ashley Cole’s holiday pal Elle Hartley is desperate to ban a steamy video of her playing with a sex toy when she was just 15.
The racy film has spread like wildfire across internet sites after she sent it to an ex-boyfriend.
The clip of Elle, 20, was recorded on a mobile phone five years ago, but she claims that because of her age at the time it is illegal for anyone to publish it.
While the tabloid articles played up Hartley’s connection to Ashley Cole, there was never any suggestion that Cole was the dude in the sex tape with her. He’s just the much more famous person whose proximity made Hartley newsworthy that week. (Ashley Cole started all four games for England in the 2010 World Cup and plays club ball for Chelsea.)

The Daily Star noted claimed that Elle and friend Melissa Niak were “in LA on a trip said to be funded by their wealthy parents” and “were desperate to be WAGs”. (“WAGs” is Brit slang for “wives and girlfriends” of soccer stars.)
So maybe someday she’ll marry a celebrity, making the Elle Hartley sex tape an actual celebrity sex tape. But it will still be illegal to distribute because she was 15 when it was filmed.
