Cameron Diaz Sex Tape

Real? The tape exists, and it’s really Cameron Diaz. But it’s not really a “sex tape”, just topless footage from a campy sex comedy made early in her career.

Circa 1992, the young and unfamous Cameron Diaz shot some scenes for a softcore sex comedy. The film was never completed, and the footage remained forgotten. Sometime around 2003, photographer-director John Rutter tried to make some money off the footage. In his version, he offered Diaz’s attorneys a “right of first refusal” to buy the video and photographs before he tried to sell them to the tabloids. In Diaz’s version, Rutter tried to extort millions of dollars from her. Rutter was arrested in August 2003.

To complicate matter, Cameron Diaz claimed that she never signed a model release form, but Rutter produced a release form with Diaz’s signature. Many people speculated, including at least one DVD distributor to whom Rutter tried to sell the footage, that Rutter had forged Diaz’s signature. At Rutter’s trial, expert witnesses supported the forgery accusation. In 2005, Rutter was convicted of forgery, attempted grand theft and perjury.

Despite Rutter’s arrest, the video footage and photographs went public in July 2004. A fly-by-night outfit called Scandal Inc. posted a 45-second “trailer” on an offshore server, with an offer to watch the whole thing for $40. The site didn’t last long. Nowadays a 31-minute version and a 22-minute version circulate in the sleazosphere.

Video shot on the set shows Diaz wearing a revealing black leather & fishnet outfit. She and another vixen spend some time lightly whipping a hunky guy chained to a pillar wearing a loincloth. Then we see several minutes of Diaz posing for topless photographs. Later Diaz shoots a simulated sex scene with the loincloth dude. Throughout all the action, a director (Rutter?) shouts directions and encouragement from offscreen. The trailer includes a fun little clip of Cameron spraying compressed air on her nipples to prepare for a shot, then giggling “Look how big they got!”
