Carmen Electra Sex Tape

Who? Actress.

Real? The tape exists and circulates widely, but it’s not really a “sex tape”.

On November 17, 2009, a Carmen Electra sex tape appeared online and became major blog/tweet/gossip fodder for a day or two. It shows Carmen Electra and another woman and a man partying in a hotel suite. There’s no actual sex, not even any nudity, just some girl-girl making out.

Some sources called this a “teaser” for a longer, more explicit sex tape to come, but that never happened. Most people were skeptical that this was a “leaked sex tape”. It looked more like a publicity stunt, a carefully crafted attempt to create a viral video. The camerawork and lighting look plausibly amateurish, but the editing is way too slick.

TMZ‘s TV show debated the leaked tape vs publicity stunt question, but mostly just gushed over Carmen Electra’s hawtness.

The Superficial called it “not so much a ‘lesbian sex tape’ as it’s a carefully-edited cocktease designed to trick suckers into writing the name Carmen Electra on their blogs.”

Egotastic also found it fishy: “First of all, I’ve never seen so many cuts in a sex tape in my life. Second, and this is kind of a biggie, Carmen Electra has never stayed clothed this long doing anything in her life!”

And The Blemish called it a “clearly staged, clearly desperate viral video. … The biggest giveaway that this is fake is that there’s absolutely no nudity. Not even tits. This should be called Three Minutes and Fifteen Seconds of Frustration. This isn’t even realistic. Does anyone spray champagne around like that?”

ICSTDB votes publicity stunt. But publicity for what exactly? Just to keep Carmen Electra’s name out there?
