Usher Sex Tape
Who? American R&B singer.
Real? Unsure, possibly just a false rumor. No tape ever circulated.
Rumors about an Usher sex tape started swirling in October 2004. He was at the height of his stardom then. His CD Confessions, released in March 2004, sold ten million copies in the US. He had just ended a three-year relationship with Rozonda Chilli (one-third of TLC).
According to rumors, the Usher sex tape was shot seven years earlier, when he was 18 or 19, around the time of his first CD. It showed him having sex with two women after a concert. One pair of prominent NYC gossip columnists cliamed to have “viewed exclusively” a portion of the tape. Gossip tabloid articles quoted an anonymous source saying, “There’s no doubt its Usher. You can see him hamming it up for the camera.” One of the women seductively moans “Ush” during playtime. Some accounts have TLC’s single ‘Waterfalls’ playing on a stereo in the background.”
Would the sex tape’s release hurt Usher’s career? One unnamed “industry observer” quoted in the same gossip articles speculated, “For a long time Usher couldn’t shake his boy-next-door image. Some of his handlers have tried to make him look like more of a bad boy. They have gotten their wish.”
For whatever reason, no such video ever circulated. Perhaps it once existed and Usher’s handlers made sure it never got released. Perhaps someone created a fake tape and convinced eager gossips to spread the word. Perhaps the video never existed at all.
